About Us

Humble Beginnings

SAM Camp started in 2008 by LifeGate Church (formerly known as North Valley Christian Fellowship) with a vision to bless the community by providing a fun summer camp experience using science, arts, and math. This first camp had about 100 campers with lots of enthusiastic volunteers. The camp has quadrupled since that first camp. What has been constant through this growth is the enthusiastic volunteers and the happy campers and their parents.

SAM Camp's mission is to provide kids an opportunity to learn different areas of science, enjoy artistic expression, practice their math skills, and make new friends - all in a fun and caring environment. It is designed to bring out and nurture the talents and abilities in each child and stimulate them to be successful in the new school year. Taught from a biblical perspective, the camp features hands-on activities in math, arts, and science, as well as a fitness component. SAM Camp encourages maximum interaction, and is for all students, not just those who excel academically.

SAM Camp's purpose is to advance the education of children and to teach them to enjoy the order and beauty in creation that could only have come from God's infinitely creative mind. While taught from a biblical perspective, it is not specifically religious. Children of all religious backgrounds are welcome to attend and will be treated with respect. SAM Camp is designed as a gift from several churches to our community. All staff are volunteers, and while registration fees help cover some of the expenses, the balance is being donated by members of the churches and other community members. Scholarships are provided for those who cannot afford the weekly fee.
